If we want to do a side suspension, we would want to connect to both the upper and lower straps so as to distribute the force to both.
If you connect to both using a 1-Point technique…
…you can see what happens to those straps as soon as you add any force:
The chest straps will be pulled together.
You could connect to each independently with two different ropes.
That would certainly work, but it would take more rope and more time.
Instead of doing that, you can use a multi-point hanger approach! This is just as fast as the 1-Point approach and…
…when loaded…
…it does not pull the strands together!
Or at least, not as much. The longer you make the legs, the less they pull toward the center line.)
