Movable Happy Knot
By Kajira Blue

A “Happy Knot” is a small knot strategically placed to provide additional stimulation as part of a larger tie or scene.
It is most often seen in a traditional Unchastity Belt … ok ‘Crotch Rope’ ::cringe:: … where it is used to put pressure on the clitoris, perinium, or base of the penis. It can be used to stimulate the anus as well. (You are remembering your rope hygiene, yes?)
The problem with the traditional approach is that if it does its job and gets your partner all hot and hungry, you then must un-tie the harness (or the crotch line at a minimum) to proceed to … other activities.
But what if you *didn’t* need to do that?
Here are several ways to make a Happy Knot that can be moved!
Risk Management and Safety
Rope that runs between the legs might come into contact with bodily excretions, lubrication, residues, etc. This can be mitigated by protective barriers like clothing and wearable dental dams like those from MyLorals (use code THEDUCHY for 10% off your order!)
If you choose not to use a barrier method, consider designating one (or two) ropes for a specific person’s genitals. Store separately from your other ropes and label clearly. Also, wash your rope!

Rope Needed
- Hips: One 15’ (~4.5m) rope
- Happy Knot: One 14” (35 cm) rope
- Modified Blood Knot: One small piece of paracord, string, or curved wire
For this tutorial, I used MFP (multifilament polypropylene), provided by my affiliate AgreeableAgony.com. Extend your rope if you need more; use it up if you have too much.
MFP is great stuff! It is soft, strong, waterproof and machine washable. The colors don’t bleed or fade. If you are in the market for colored rope, check out AgAg! If you use this link, it will give you 5% off orders over $35. Also, check out their IG for more inspiration.

Method 1 – Use a Prusik knot (Faster)
Tie the Crotch Rope on as usual, but do not include a Happy Knot.
Use a short piece of rope. This one is only 14” (35 cm).
It can be shorter than this.
Add a Lark’s Head around the center lines.
Convert it to a Prusik…
Like this.
Once the Prusik is completed, tighten each of the loops so it grips onto the strap firmly.
(Optional) Trim the ends or lock them off somehow …
… perhaps with an Overhand Knot.
Hold the center lines firmly so they do not move while you slide the Happy Knot into place.
Huzzah!
Once you’ve reached a point where your Happy Knot has made someone decidedly ‘happy’ it can be moved out of the way …
… perhaps up to the waistband and the ends tucked out of the way.
The center lines are then free to be pulled apart …
… making things more accessible.
Alternatively, you can simply remove the knot. To do so, grab the bight of the Prusik knot …
… and pull.
Voila!
Once again, the center lines are free to be moved apart for any number of nefarious reasons.
Method 2 – Use a modified Blood Knot (Prettier)
Here is another option for the knot. It’s more symmetrical but takes a little time and effort to tie.
Make a loop of some coat hanger wire or thin, but strong, string or rope.
Here I’m using a paracord, but there are definite advantages to using wire or a fid, see Step 11 below.
Grab a short piece of rope to make the knot. This one is 14” (35 cm).
Lay that short rope along the center line.
Place the loop alongside it, the bight of the loop facing the same direction as the end of the other short rope (upwards in my case).
Starting at about (1”/2.5cm) from the end, begin wrapping the tail of the short rope around all three elements (the loop, the center line, and the short rope itself).
Wrap up over itself. Make the wrap snug but not too tight.
Wrap past the short tail of rope, but not past loop of paracord.
Run the end of the short rope through the loop of paracord (or wire, or string).
Pull the ends of the loop while supporting the knot with your other hand …
… to pull the end of the short rope under the coils.
This may take a bit of coaxing or repositioning if the coils are quite tight or if the rope being used has a lot of ‘tooth’.
This is where using a bent coat hanger for your loop can be helpful. If the rope slips out, you can reinsert a stiff wire loop, something you cannot do if you are using string or paracord. Even better is a ‘fid’.
Pull the loop all the way through and free.
The final knot should look like this.
(Optional) Work the coils to tighten them.
To slide into place, grip the center lines with one hand and move the Happy Knot with the other.
Hooray!
When the wearer is ‘happy’, you can move the knot out of the way…
… perhaps up to the waistband …
… and the center lines spread apart.
Making an Accessible Crotch Rope
Simply moving the center lines apart does increase accessibility, but those lines can migrate and get in the way. There is, however, a simple solution! Using a little extra rope, we can create something much more stable and attractive!
For this, you need some extra rope. If you have rope left over from the original Crotch Rope itself (perhaps you used a longer rope), you can use that. Alternatively …
… you can add this feature later in the scene by simply adding a new short rope – this one is about 5’ (~1.5m) – connecting it to the back with a Lark’s Head (or however else you prefer).
Run one strand under the center lines so it is on the other side.
Now that you have these extra strands, you can use them to add tension to the center lines, moving them out of the way.
Bring them to the front and between the strands of the center strap.
Pull them apart.
Add a twist if you like.
This adds a decorative feature as well as additional friction which pulls the rope more firmly into your partner.
Adjust the tension on the lines to your liking.
Run them to the back …
… and lock off as you wish. Here I’m using a Cored Square Knot to add vertical as well as horizontal stability.
To use up the leftover rope, I continued the Cored Square Knots up the back.
Success!
