2-Point Hanger applied to a chest harness - Rope only
Let’s add a Y-Hanger to a chest harness, in this case a Shinju.
Bring your new upline and run the primary bight under first one strap…
…then the second.
Pull primary bight through far enough that you have some with which work.
Now pull the part of the rope between the two straps up away from the body to form a secondary bight. Lay that secondary bight on top of your fingers, next to the tail.
Position the primary bight above the straps, parallel to the strands of the secondary bight and tail.
This is the starting point for several common Single Columns.
I will use my preferred approach: the Somerville Bowline.
…
…
Make sure the knot is tight.
Choose what you will do with the bight. (See “Options for the Bight” above). Here I have chosen to lock it off.
This line is now ready to be run up to the hard point.
When setting up your lift system, the upline can pass through this path.
