Multi-Strand Diamond Knot (DK4 & DK6)
DK4 & DK6The Multi-Strand Diamond Knot is a transition that joins three or more cords with the strands spreading outward as they leave the knot — useful where you want the falls to fan out from the handle.
4-Strand on 1/8" (3mm) Paracord
6-Strand on 1/4" (6mm) Cotton Cord
The Multi-Strand Diamond Knot looks quite similar to a Footrope Knot, but it is constructed differently and it has different properties. While the cords coming out of the Footrope Knot tend to have quite close together, the Diamond Knot them further apart.
This technique can be used to create the Diamond Knot with any number of cords from three and up. There are different patterns for creating a Diamond Knot with only 1 strand or 2 strands.
A Diamond Knot can be a good choice if you are transitioning from one part of the project to another that is going to be roughly the same size. For example, if you are transitioning from the handle where you are using one type of weave, to an extension where you’re using a different kind of weave. If, however, you are transitioning to either the tails or falls, I would choose the Footrope Knot
