Intro To Hashira Shibari
Intro To Hashira Shibari is your entry point into hashira â an advanced shibari technique for securing a partner to a vertical support such as a beam, column, post, or pole (hashira means âpillarâ). It isnât a beginnerâs first tie; itâs the introduction to this more advanced category for practitioners who already have foundational rope skills. Youâll work through a range of body positions built around a vertical support â seated (two variations), standing (two variations), and kneeling â so you can adapt your approach to different partners, spaces, and goals. Because tying against a fixed vertical support raises the stakes, planning and safety sit at the center of the course. A full section covers preparation and communication for both roles: essential planning information for Tops and Bottoms, how a Top prepares and plans ahead of a session, and how a Bottom evaluates both their rigging partner and their own limits before any tying begins. The emphasis throughout is on informed consent, clear communication, and responsible practice. The final section turns technique into creative practice, walking through worked examples such as The Running Man and the Crab or M positions, along with additional ideas to explore and adapt. Itâs designed to help experienced practitioners build confident, safety-aware technique specifically around vertical supports.
